VemoZyme® TurboPhyt is a revolutionary superdosed phytase enzyme complex that goes beyond just breaking down phytate, providing a comprehensive multienzyme cocktail to optimize feed digestion, absorption, and utilization. By superdosing phytase, you can improve animal performance, reduce costs, and minimize environmental impact.
What is phytase superdosing?
Nowadays most of the phytases are applied at 500 U/kg. Superdosing phytase is considered when more than 1000 U/kg of an enhanced third generation phytase is applied in the diet.
Why phytase superdosing?
Monogastric animals like poultry and pigs have limited ability to break down phytate due to low levels of intestinal phytase, which restricts their ability to utilize phosphorus from plant-based feeds. As a result, expensive inorganic phosphate supplements are required to meet their dietary needs, but these can increase feed costs and phosphorus pollution. Superdosing feed with phytase helps break down phytate (IP6) and its lower esters (IP5-IP2) more effectively, reducing anti-nutritional effects and improving nutrient absorption. This practice enhances animal performance, particularly in poorly performing flocks, by promoting consistent growth and better-quality meat and eggs.
By superdosing, more phytate and its lower esters are broken down, releasing higher levels of phosphorus than standard dosing.
Phytate also chelates other essential nutrients, such as zinc, calcium, magnesium, iron, and amino acids, making them less bioavailable.
The breakdown of phytate also reduces the anti-nutritional effects of phytate, which can interfere with nutrient digestion and absorption.
Superdosing phytase enhances the energy available from the diet, and improves the overall nutrient profile of the feed, contributing to better animal growth and health.
Superdosing phytase can potentially eliminate or significantly reduce the need for costly inorganic phosphorus supplements in the feed, leading to considerable cost savings.
Superdose – the new gold standard
VemoZyme® TurboPhyt is applied at a dose of 100 g/t feed, 1500 Units phytase per kilogram feed.
Graph 1. The effect of VemoZyme® TurboPhyt on growth performance of broilers, %
The addition of VemoZyme® TurboPhyt significantly increased the growth performance of broilers fed a lower-nutrient diet, bringing the economic benefits of utilizing a lower-cost feed source, by adding the enzyme complex additive. The feed utilization efficiency is also greatly improved, hallmarked by the significantly lower FCR value in the NC broilers, between the treated and non-treated group.
Graph 2. Effect of VemoZyme® TurboPhyt application on average laid eggs, feed intake, and total egg weight, %
The addition of VemoZyme® TurboPhyt at 100 g/t feed to corn-soya compound feeds for laying hens, balanced in the essential nutrients, resulted in 2.8 % more laid eggs per week and 2.32% more egg mass.
Graph 3. The effect of VemoZyme® TurboPhyt on growth performance of broilers in conditions of reduced energy, protein, amino acids, available phosphorus, and calcium diets, %
The trial results show 4.1% increase in body weight gain, 3% decrease in feed intake, and 7.1% decrease in FCR when 100 g/ton VemoZyme® TurboPhyt is added to the reduced diet test group compared to the control group.
